Electrical & Computer Engineering

I completed my doctoral work in the lab of Professor Charles M. Higgins at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Professor Higgins received his Ph.D. at the California Institute of Technology and has made a brilliant career at the nexus of the science of Electrical Engineering and Neuroscience. He has been teaching a course called Reverse Engineering the Fly for decades.

Upon joining Professor Higgins's lab, he asked me to reproduce the findings of a John Hopfield paper modelling insect olfaction with a recurrent neural network. This research eventually turned into the core of my Ph.D. research where we created a recurrent neural network to solve the problem of visual binding.
